Slade von Salzburg is a beautiful 2-3 year old red and black German Shepherd. He enjoys attention and becomes affectionate once he feels comfortable with you, putting his head against you for pets, following you around, and becoming your shadow.  A larger male, Slade would do best with an experienced owner to help guide him, and he's looking for a home without small dogs or cats.  He has bonded well with staff who spend time with him at the rescue, and has made excellent progress in his leash training. In general, he listens very well, is observant and aware, housebroken, and  is very treat motivated. And he seems to be a perceptive dog who is ready for a better life than what he came from.  After a walk, he just hung out quietly with a group of volunteers, with an interested look as he seemed to be taking it all in, and gently accepting any offered treats. He does quite well around other dogs at the rescue, meeting them okay, just isn't a fan of dogs romping around him. If you are looking for a dog who will place you at the center of the world,  Slade might be the one for you.
